The multifunction corridor spaces are equipped with very durable materials like cast concrete benches which provide short term spaces to sit but not long term places to live.

“We worked extensively with their Facilities department on essentially creating the standard they would go forth with on new elementary schools.”

Peter Duckworth, Principal

We took a very robust approach to the materials and the systems that were used in the building.  There are all off the shelf, well tested, well respected HVAC systems that will have a long life. Material finishes included a lot of concrete block and where we did use natural materials like wood, they were put at a higher level so they weren’t as susceptible to damage but still added warmth to the space.

This is the first new school built by the Board in a long time so we worked extensively with their Facilities department on essentially creating the standard they would go forth with on new elementary schools.  We considered their internal ability to do maintenance and operations and developed systems and building automation controls that would put them in good shape going forward.
