We considered the building envelope of Southview PS starting with the siting of the building for natural daylight penetration and solar control. We also increased insulation over normal levels as an inexpensive, maintenance free way of saving energy.  High performance glazing was used to reduce solar gain in the classroom spaces and to offset the lack of air conditioning.
