“The atrium is a large, welcoming gathering space that can be put to use in a number of ways.”

Peter Duckworth, Principal

The layout design of the school allows the community access to a number of individual areas of the school like the gym and library. Collectively, it can be used almost in a conference setup.  The staff rooms and smaller resource rooms can be used for meetings or break out rooms.  The library and gymnasium can be reception or larger presentation spaces.

The atrium is a large, welcoming gathering space that can be put to use in a number of ways – all of which can be easily separated from so as to not interfere with the classroom and specific programming areas of the school. In this way community groups can book a wide variety of spaces, from the Gym to a single meeting room and access these spaces throughout many hours of the day without interfering with operation of the school or compromising security. This approach has really invited the community into the school in a safe and welcoming way and helped reinforce that this school has truly become a community hub.
