Garth Webb Secondary
Windows placed at the end of corridors keep circulation bright and cheerful.

“When we designed Garth Webb, the intent was for all teaching and communal spaces to have natural light.”

Priscilla Ladouceur, Principal

When we designed Garth Webb, the intent was for all teaching and communal spaces to have natural light, with the exception of spaces like Theatre Arts or the TV studio where controlled lighting is critical for the programming needs.  In the academic wings on the 2nd and 3rd floors, many classrooms look out onto park, creek or fields.  Interior spaces house mechanical, electrical and utility rooms or amenities such as washrooms and storage.

Effort was also made to terminate corridors with windows to the exterior.   The outcome is a bright, cheerful school but with sunlight controlled through tinted, low-E coated glazing to reduce solar heat gain.
